
Potato Day at the Capitol Wednesday on the North Lawn
Potato lovers can enjoy free, fresh cut fries and free Michigan-made potato chips from Better Made, Great Lakes Chips and Uncle Ray's when the Michigan Potato Industry Commission hosts Potato Day at the Capitol from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, on the north lawn of the Capitol.
The key really, is to raise awareness of the potatoes in the state. There are a lot of people that eat potatoes every day and don't know that Michigan grows potatoes.
According to the Lansing State Journal, here are a few Michigan potato facts:
1. One in 4 bags of potato chips in the country is made from Michigan potatoes.
2. Michigan harvests nearly 2 billion pounds of potatoes annually with a value of more than $178 million.
