Party City Closing 4 Michigan Stores, Is Yours Next?
Maybe they partied a little too hard, because Party City is closing stores throughout the country in order to cut costs after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In Michigan, 4 stores will be closed and of those 3 of the leases will be auctioned off.
According to PartyCity.com, there are currently 26 locations currently operating in the state of Michigan, soon to be 22.
Party City has struggled in the past maintaining profitability, including in 2019 when they closed 45 stores due to a helium shortage, as reported by MLive. As many business's that cater to gatherings of large people, the COVID 19 pandemic and social distances also took its toll on the party giant.
Party City has been offering all the fixings you need for any kind of party. Costumes of all kinds are available throughout the year, but most of all on Halloween. Parents and October revelers know the allure of Party City during the Halloween Season, from sexy (insert profession here) outfits to wigs, makeup and zombie wounds.
Shopping won't be nearly as easy for Michiganders in 4 Michigan cities, as Party City will be closing in these cities according to NBCChicaco.com:
Located at 1510 N West Avenue, this location will be closing on or by April 26th, 2023.
Hollands Party City will close on or before April 29th, 2023 and is located at 3050 Beeline Road.
Benton Harbor's Party City will close it's doors permanently on April 29th or sooner.
Fort Gratiot, Michigan
Located at 4047 24th Avenue, the Fort Gratiot Party City is set to be closed permanently by the end of April.
Though Michigan is loosing three Party Citys, we can rest easy knowing their are still 22 more in the Mitten State. I wonder how long it will take for Halloween USA to move into the empty Party City near you?
