Old Lansing Road (and the Defunct Village of Millett)
Old Lansing Road runs north from Michigan Plumbing, through Millett, and ends at the current Lansing Road. It's a six-mile jaunt that runs parallel to Lansing Road, past the Woldumar Nature Center, through the former village of Millett, past the old 5railroad depot (now the Lansing Model Railroad Club), the B&I Bar that stands alone alongside the road, and the old one-room schoolhouse.
Old Lansing Road runs northeast smack between Lansing Road and the Grand River. For such a short distance, there are plenty of cool things to see. The small community once known as Millett (formerly Milletts) got swallowed up by Lansing's continuing growth. At the junction of Old Lansing Road and Millett Highway (it's not much of a highway...just a small street) is a brick building that may have been a town hall, and another structure that looks like it may have been some kind of auto repair establishment.
Across from the “town hall” and Old Lansing Road is the old depot, now the Lansing Model Railroad Club.

Heading northeast, the B&I Bar is on the right, which, I am told, has some pretty good bar food. Further down is the old one-room schoolhouse on the right. Well, it's a former one-room school; if you drive toward the back you can see the addition that took away the one-room charm.
Old Lansing Road doesn't seem to get much press, but the residents who live there seem are grateful the majority of traffic is averted to Lansing Road. They are also able to enjoy the tranquility and the absence of the prying eyes of the big city that is just a stone's throw away.
Driving down Old Lansing Road these days, you'll see it's a nice throwback to how things once were in that area. To find out more about Millett, check out this link.
