Construction of a new entrance at Lansing's Groesbeck Golf Course is underway.  Mayor Virg Bernero says the new entrance will keep Groesbeck traffic off neighborhood streets.

Construction of the entrance from Grand River Avenue through Ormond Park is expected to be completed by mid-August.

Bernero said in a statement the $424,000 project is part of his three point strategy to reduce the city owned golf course's financial losses.

Some council members and residents oppose the new entrance because they are concerned it could eventually destroy Ormond Park completely and create more traffic in the neighborhood next to the golf course.  Here's the latest from the Lansing State Journal.
