According to the Lansing State Journal, several residential projects in downtown Lansing will open their doors this year, with nearly 300 market rate units.

This is truly amazing that it will all come together by summer. I'm from the Lansing area and I've seen many changes in the downtown Lansing area, but nothing quite as extravagant as this.

Capitol View Apartments, owned by the family of George F. Eyde, will have 96 units and is set to accept residents by the end of March.

Metro Place Apartments, built on the footprint of the demolished former Downtown YMCA, will have 145 units with residencies expected to begin by mid April. The site will also include first floor commercial and retail space.

And the Gellespie Group expects to open 40 residential units attached to the Capitol City Market project in the Stadium District, called Block 600 Lofts, by August.

The mayor of Lansing said, it's not enough to attract and keep visitors here. To create a truly walkable downtown, we need more residents living downtown. When people live in a downtown, businesses are more likely to stay open late and on weekends because they will be profitable.
