New $7.5 Million Greater Lansing Food Bank in Bath
As far back as I can remember, local radio stations including WFMK have been urging listeners to donate food to the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
The Greater Lansing Area Food Bank will make certain that everyone in our community has access to nutritious food, because we can all agree, that no one should ever go hungry in our community.
According to the Lansing State Journal, Greater Lansing Food Bank will construct a new $7.5 million facility in Bath as part of its Building Hope campaign to address hunger in mid-Michigan.
The food bank, which currently operates out of a north Lansing warehouse, plans to expand its emergency food services throughout the seven counties it serves.
Estimates show the food bank will need to double the number of meals served annually by 2025.
Greater Lansing Food Bank provides food from all of the food groups, including: meat & proteins, fresh produce, dairy, and bread, pasta & grains.
The 60,000 square foot facility will help improve the food bank's operations, increasing storage capacity in cooler and freezer rooms by 250 percent and 110 percent, and dry storage by 80 percent.
