2 of the Most Dangerous Colleges In America Are in Michigan

College should be about stressing over finals, discovering the magic bean known as coffee, and pretending your student loans don't exist—not worrying about becoming a crime statistic. But according to a new ranking from the Law Office of David A. Breston, two of America's most dangerous college campuses are right here, in Michigan.

The 2025 rankings used data from the Clery Act, which requires colleges to report all crimes on campus.

How Michigan Schools Became 2 of America's Most Dangerous College Campuses

The study focused on universities with over 30,000 students and examined criminal offenses, hate crimes, and VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) crimes reported in 2022. To clarify, this is based on reported crimes, meaning the number includes actual incidents and false accusations.

After tallying the numbers, there were enough reported crimes to place two of Michigan's top universities in the top 20. U.C. Berkeley earned the title of most dangerous campus, the University of Arizona led in hate crimes, and Texas A&M had the most VAWA-related crimes.
