According to WILX, State health officials are stepping up measures against Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).

As part of the response to the EEE outbreak, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has posted a list of licensed mosquito spraying companies in Michigan.

Consumers should do their homework before they sign a contract. Mosquito control companies have to be licensed and all their applicators must pass MDARD's mosquito control certification exam.

There are a variety of pesticides available, and they don't all work the same way. Being certified means knowing the different species of mosquitoes, which pesticides are most effective, and when and how to spray them safely.

Consumers should be aware that pest control businesses are legally required to obtain their consent before making a pesticide application. For more information, please click on the above link.
