According to WILX-News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, more than 200 Michigan schools will share $25 million dollars to buy equipment and improve technology for school security.

According to Michigan State Police, 135 public school districts, 66 non-public schools, 20 public charter schools and several other educational service agencies will receive money from the 2019 Competitive School Safety Grant Program.

The money will come from State Police grants.  The funding will be used to buy technology and equipment that will support safety and security upgrades for students, staff, and school buildings.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer says that safety for our children should always be a top priority.

In total, 366 applications were received, requesting over $46 million in funding for security enhancements.   Please click on the above link to take a look at the schools that have been awarded grant money.
