Michigan’s Top Restaurants in 2020
Last week I posted an article about Michigan's top 5 best food dishes. This time it's all about Michigan's top restaurants in 2020.
MLive has put together a list of great restaurants including Michigan's Best Diner, Favorite Fish Fry, Best Coney Dog, Most Iconic Restaurant, and even Best Waterfront Restaurant.
In no particular order, let's take a look at several top restaurants here in Michigan:
1. Apache Trout Grill in Traverse City. This wonderful restaurant is open seven days a week and their food is absolutely fabulous. I should know because my wife and I have dined there twice to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The beautiful setting overlooks the west arm of Grand Traverse Bay. Factor in great desserts, a great drink menu and you have a perfect destination for any occasion.
2. Giovanni's in Detroit. And since I am personally a true lover of lasagna, Giovanni's has the best lasagna in Michigan. When you get the chance, visit Giovanni's for the wonderful food and atmosphere. Giovanni's has excellent calamari which is always perfectly cooked and classic.
3. Butter Crust Bakery in Bridgeport. Just the name alone makes my mouth water. Some say best bakery and best doughnuts. Butter Crust Bakery is right off I-75 north of Frankenmuth and near Saginaw. You will really enjoy their mouthwatering Peanut Butter & Jelly Long Johns and glazed doughnuts.
4.Dagwood's Tavern and Grill in Lansing. Love this place for several reasons. It's right here in Lansing on E. Kalamazoo St. and I've been there several times for not only their delicious food, but for their fabulous French Fries. This wonderful place has been around since 1947. Everything at Dagwood's is homemade, just the way we like it.
5. Mayfair Bar in Haslett. MLive had this to say about Mayfair:
If you're a Michigan State University sports fan, this is the place to be. This wonderful restaurant and bar opened in 1944 and it's all about the charm, wooden tables, a dance floor, pool tables and an upstairs deck that's always busy during the spring and summer months. Enjoy daily food specials as well as their award winning chili.
6.Elizabeth's Chop House in Marquette. Definitely worth the drive to the Upper Peninsula. This is one of the U.P.'s best fine dining restaurants. They are well known for steaks and very attentive service. By the way, the coal smoked, 18 ounce Hickory ribeye is absolutely the best in my opinion.
