There are a lot of cliches when it comes to death. When will you meet your Michigan maker? According to a study published in Our World of Data, the average life expectancy for someone living in the United States circa 1950 was around 68 years old. Today, thanks to innovations in the medical field, including improved education, equipment, and technological advancements, we are living an additional 11 years, or age 79.

The question is, what are we doing with those additional 11 years? Living in Michigan, I have a laundry list of things that I'd love to see happen before I eat my final pastie. Like seeing the Lions win a Super Bowl. Or driving down a pot-hole-free road.
