Michigan State Basketball Ready for Big Ten Tournament
Spartan fans, we now have a Big Ten tournament to look forward to this week. Michigan State will take on Maryland Thursday, March 10, with a 6:30 p.m. tip.
Right now MSU is 2-0 against Maryland, can Michigan State beat Maryland for a third time? That's a good question!
MSU gave their seniors a nice send off on Sunday with a 77-67 win over Maryland. Not only was it senior day, it was also MSU's final regular season basketball game.
According to mlive.com:
But Michigan State coach Tom Izzo subscribes to the basketball adage that it's difficult to beat the same team three times in one season. I'm not sure it's an advantage," Izzo said of the draw. "Now you've got to beat a team three times, but it is what it is."
It's exciting just to know that the Spartans and Terrapins will battle in the Big Ten tournament this Thursday. Wouldn't it be great if the Spartans could sweep Maryland with three straight wins in a row?
Who ever wins that game will move on to play #2 seed Wisconsin. Of course since this is the Big Ten tournament, you can watch all basketball games on the Big Ten Network.
By the way, the best part of Sunday's Michigan State win at the Breslin Center was that Tom Izzo surpassed Indiana legend Bobby Knight's record for overall wins. Coach Tom Izzo now has a career high 663 wins.
Let's cheer on the MSU men's basketball team and hope they all play very well in not only the Big Ten tournament, but the other basketball tournament that everybody is talking about as well. GO GREEN! GO WHITE!
