BREAKING Rite Aid Shutting Down All 186 Michigan Stores
The final nail in the coffin for Michigan's Rite Aid locations has been made official: Every location in Michigan will be closed by 2025. WXYZ Channel 7 confirmed the news today via a spokesperson for the store, which began in 2024 with 186 locations in the Mitten State. This comes after the first round of closures following the drug store chain filing for bankruptcy in June, which began with a dozen stores and snowballed. More and more stores met the same fate. This left many Michiganders in limbo, wondering: "Is my Rite Aid next?" And now, we know.

According to the Channel 7 report, no timeline has been announced for store closures, but one thing is for sure: there are a slew of Michiganders looking for a new pharmacy.
What's Next For Rite Aid's Soon to Be Vacant Locations
If you haven't experienced a Rite Aid closure yet, brace yourself. The STORE CLOSING signs will be everywhere, from handheld signs on street corners to what looks like a landing strip of pop-up ads lining the perimeter of the closing stores. Sadly, as early bargain hunters snag their deals, the stray items that never got a second look come to the forefront. I mean, who buys a fake plant at Rite Aid?
Jokes aside, I hope the legions of Rite Aid employees throughout Michigan land on their feet, as I'm sure the influx of new patients will translate into HELP WANTED signs.
Rite Aid Will Remain Open Throughout the US, Just Not in Michigan
To be honest, Rite Aid closing every single one of our 186 Michigan locations while continuing to operate the over 2,000 stores they own nationwide is hard not to take personally. Thanks, Rite Aid. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, and we'll think of you when we buy fake cobwebs and masks at the Spirit Halloween that takes over your location in 2025.
