Michigan Fails When it Come to Fun in the US
WalletHub.com's newest ranking of America's Most Fun States to Visit is out, and Michigan should have done better. In a state that has a 13-month-long winter, finding something fun to do is the Mitten State pastime! The two categories, with over 20 variables each, that were taken into consideration by WalletHub were "Nightlife" and "Entertainment and Recreation".
The Experiences Are What Make Michigan an Incredible State to Visit
I'm certain WalletHub simply didn't know. That is the only acceptable explanation as to how Michigan was only ranked in the top 30. WalletHub looked at how many clubs, parks, bars, restaurants, activity centers, amusement parks, attractions, golf courses, and more and compared that against the population and weather, carried the 2, and viola. Ohio is more fun than Michigan?
Seriously! Ohio ranked higher in fun than Michigan. What is there to do in Ohio other than wish you weren't in Ohio? Sure their roads are great, but come on! Ohio?

California was ranked #1 for vacation fun, which isn't surprising. What IS surprising is that Minnesota outranked Michigan for merriment. Oh, you betcha, don'tcha know! When was the last time you were looking to have a good time and Minnesota came to mind? Fishing? We have that here! Hunting? Yup. Minnesota ranks at #9.
The real gut punch though? Was #20. Alaska. WalletHub.com, in its infinite wisdom, came to the conclusion that ALASKA was more fun than Michigan. A state that is in the dark for months at a time is more fun to vacation in than Michigan. Ok.

But WalletHub, Michigan offers 4 seasons! Winter, Second Winter, 5 days of sunshine, and Eternal Winter. Seriously, Michigan's summer is something that has to be experienced at least once in someone's life. If WalletHub knocked us down for anything it would be our weather, but Michigan's weather is what provides the fun!
Tell me you haven't watched a couple fight at a boat launch, watched as an ice fisherman chased their shanty, giggled when someone was splashed by a spring puddle, or watched your child mow your lawn in 99-degree heat from the air-conditioned comfort of your home?

All kidding aside, Michigan's downfall on WalletHubs fun-o-meter was in fact its weather. Turns out that if you don't live in a frozen tundra 17 months out of a year, you're more inclined to travel to a sandy beach than an ice rink. Hence, Michigan ranks 22nd for fun in the United States. At least we're not last place, talking to you Mississippi!
