Michigan made it a little more than two months into 2025 without a single case of measles, that is, until March 9. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Oakland County Health Division confirmed via press that an adult case of measles in Oakland County.

While this is the first measles case since July of 2024, the infected individual made a couple of stops in the last two weeks that exposed several Michiganders to this highly contagious disease.

    • 327 S. Main Street in Rochester, Michigan
    • Exposure date and timeframe:
      • Friday, March 3, 2025, from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm
  • Henry Ford Rochester Hospital Emergency Department
    • 1101 W. University Drive in Rochester, Michigan
    • Exposure dates and timeframes:
      • Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 3:40 am to Sunday, March 9, at 9:32 am
      • Tuesday, March 10, 2025, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

What to do If You Were Exposed to Measles in Michigan

The MDHHS is asking anyone who was exposed at these locations to monitor themselves for the following symptoms, which can take up to 21 days to appear after exposure: high fever, cough, runny nose, red-watery eyes, white spots on the inner cheeks, gums, and roof of the mouth, and a red, raised, blotchy rash.

If you seek medical attention for these symptoms at your doctor's office or any medical facility, the MDHHS asks that you alert them ahead of time so they can protect others from being exposed to measles.
