Summer begins on Sunday, June 20, and that can only mean one thing, summer fun in metro Detroit.
Let's face it, people are ready to get outside to have lots and lots of fun this summer. We're talking about going to concerts, fairs, shows, Tiger games, and so much more.
There are many fun things you can do right here in the Greater Lansing area, but we decided to focus on having fun this summer in metro Detroit and surrounding areas.
According to the Detroit Free Press:
From Caribbean music festivals to contemporary ballet, the new Music Hall Amphitheater is bringing entertainment from everywhere to Detroit.
That's one example of fun happening in metro Detroit this summer. There are several great ideas to choose from in this article from the Detroit Free Press, I thought I would pick out a few of my favorites.
1. 14 beaches in metro Detroit. What more could you ask for this summer. A chance to take your family to one of fourteen beaches. Have fun by soaking up the sun and going for a swim as you relax at one of your favorite beaches.
2. Detroit Tigers set for full capacity. Need I say more, absolutely. Comerica Park, home to the Detroit Tigers baseball team, is now at full capacity. We're talking about 41,083 baseball fans at a Tigers game. Be ready for game day and don't forget about Detroit Tiger souvenirs.
3. 150th anniversary of Cedar Point. Does this count? Yes it does. Cedar Point is a couple hours away from Detroit and that place is a summer blast. Celebrate Cedar Point's 150th anniversary by riding great roller coasters, playing midway games, and eating all kinds of delicious treats.
4. Michigan state park camping. This has become very popular ever since Memorial Day weekend. People are making reservations to go camping this summer all over the Michigan area including Michigan's thumb. Camping, relaxing, swimming, barbequing, campfires, and more will bring so much summer fun to Michigan families.
