The  skies over Howell will be blue and red and green and yellow this weekend when the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest returns to the Livingston County community.

Hot air balloons bearing every color of the rainbow will launch and land all weekend as they compete for the state ballooning championship on the grounds around Howell High School.

The three-day event also includes an arts festival and open-air market, carnival rides, a food court and performances by skydivers and a stunt kite team.

Saturday night's Balloon Glow promises to be especially spectacular.  As darkness falls, about 20 illuminated balloons will inflate on the launch field.  Here's more from michiganchallenge.com.
