Michigan Celebrity’s Yacht Closed an Up North Marina
Everyone knows who Tim Allen is. He's an American actor and comedian and he recently celebrated his 69th birthday on June 13.
We know Tim Allen as Santa Clause, Buzz Lightyear, and also as "The Toolman" Taylor on Home Improvement which at one time, was a very popular TV series on ABC.
According to mlive.com:
NORTHPORT, MI – A diesel spill from a Michigan celebrity’s yacht closed an up north marina and adjacent beach during the recent holiday weekend.
That Michigan celebrity happens to be the one and only "Tim Allen." It's his very own yacht that spilled 30 to 50 gallons of diesel fuel into the water in Northport's marina.
Needless to say, that accident caused Northport's marina to shut down for at least 12 hours after all that diesel fuel spilled into the water on July 3.
And now officials are saying Tim Allen will be responsible for all cleanup costs. This from mlive.com:
Officials with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy said Allen will be financially responsible for the costs of the cleanup and confirmed he had hired the environmental response crew. Both state and federal officials said no fines are going to be issued because the spill was small, accidental, and caused by a mechanical problem; Coast Guard officials issued a letter of warning.
I had the pleasure several years ago of interviewing Tim Allen on a phone interview for the radio station. Tim Allen performed a comedy show here in the Lansing area and we were promoting his local show. It was a fun interview.
Tim Allen has done so much during his incredible career including all of the those "Pure Michigan" spots that he's recorded over the years.
One of my favorite movies starring Tim Allen is "Wildhogs" which came out in 2007:
