Big things are happening for author Angeline Boulley of Sault Ste. Marie. Her novel "Firekeepers Daughter" is at the top of the New York Times bestseller's list and it's going to be made into a Netflix series soon. Boulley told MLive that she's very excited to meet her collaborators and to see the book brought to life.

I am delighted that they are leading the way to bring this project to life on screen. I haven’t yet met the Obamas, but it is thrilling that their company is producing this project.

"Firekeepers Daughter" follows Daunis Fontaine, a Native American teen living in Michigan's Upper Peninsula who secretly pursues her own investigation on her Objibwe reservation to expose its corruption.
Boulley's novel is based on her own experiences growing up as she is a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She told Soo Today that it's important for readers to see themselves in a story.

Everyone deserves to be seen in a story, and I think that when a young person can see themselves in a story, it changes how they view their identity, and their place in the world. It broadens their view of the world and themselves in it.
