Joyride? Police Stop Michigan 10 Year Old in Stolen Buick
A very dangerous situation was literally 'shut down' by Michigan State Police and OnStar. Last month, a 10-year-old Buena Vista township boy decided to take a 2017 Buick Encore to 'meet his mom' in Detroit.
Saginaw County dispatch received a call from OnStar on May 27, reporting a stolen vehicle being driven on I-75. At the same time, 911 was also fielding calls from drivers reporting a juvenile driving on the same highway.
MSP Troopers then found the vehicle heading south on I-75 near the Birch Run exits. Full lights and sirens were used, but the driver failed to pull over.
OnStar then disabled the car, but not before it struck a guardrail.
The boy fled the vehicle once it came to a stop, but he was later apprehended and taken to the Saginaw County Juvenile Center. Fortunately, no one was injured and the Buick suffered only minor body damage.
