The Greater Lansing Sports Authority and Mid-Michigan Tennis Association announced some historic local tennis news.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Michigan's first ever men's professional tennis tournament is coming to the Lansing area.

The Capital City Tennis Classic will debut this fall, Nov. 17-24 at Michigan State's indoor tennis facility.

The tournament, which will include prize money of $15,000, is the first in the state on the men's side.  Midland's Dow Classic women's tournament began in 1989.

ITF World Tennis Tour events are the lowest of the three tiers of professional tennis.  The top tier consists of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP Tour), which includes the world's top players.
