Michigan has had more than its share of amusement parks: some you know about, some you’ve read about, some you remember, and some you probably never heard of.

While Michigan’s amusement park boom lasted from the late 1800s up until the mid-20th Century, a few others opened and closed during the 1900s. One of them was Memory Lane Arcade, located in Frankenmuth.

Dennis and Irene Atkinson opened Memory Lane on April 29, 1975, and it was unlike any arcade you’ve ever seen in any mall. This place was packed with stuff!

What made Frankenmuth's Memory Lane Arcade so memorable?

My favorite was “The Egyptian Mummy Answers Your Questions”. There was also:
Kiss-O-Meter
Mystic Swami
Buzzy Buzzy Bee
Play Golf
Laffing Sal's Funhouse
Many pinball games
Personality indicator and many more amusements and games...

The unique aspect of this arcade was its dedication to old fashioned arcade games and attractions; many old-time ‘fortune-telling’ booths were on display and available for the curious wanting to know about their futures.

Admission for this incredible arcade was absolutely free of charge and featured even more things, like more modern computer games and 3D movies.

Located at 626 South Main Street, Memory Lane Arcade closed on November 28, 2004.
