Matthew Stafford is riding high on his first Super Bowl win with his new team, the Los Angels Rams. Granted, he has a whole new slew of west coast fans now, but to most  Michiganders, he still has a special place in their hearts.

The former Detroit Lions quarterback, who announced his departure after 12 seasons, not only had to say goodbye to his Lions team and the city of Detroit, but he and his wife Kelly also said goodbye to their magnificent home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

When the decision was made to relocate to the west coast, the couple listed their lakefront home on Long Pointe Drive for $6.5 million. The home is located just outside of Detroit is 12,295 square feet, has five bedrooms, and seven bathrooms, and sits on 1.27 acres of a pointed peninsula that reaches into all-sports Upper Long Lake.

Kelly Stafford would often post pictures to her social media of the family enjoying time on the lake, hosting events with friends and family enjoying all the extras the house had including the highlight, the largest infinity pool in the state.

The home has just about every little extra you would expect from a professional athlete. The Stafford house includes an indoor half-basketball court made of flooring the Detroit Pistons played on at the Pontiac Silverdome, five fireplaces, a sauna, a wine cellar, and a glass elevator with service to all three of the levels.

According to Zillow, the home sold in August of 2021 for $6 million. As for the Staffords, they purchased a 15,000-square-foot home in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley, within the guard-gated celebrity enclave of Hidden Hills. Price tag? $19.6 million. Neighbors include Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, Lil Wayne, NBA star DeMar DeRozan, and Kylie Jenner, who lives right across the street.
