Little Girl the Snow Leopard Will be Missed at Potter Park Zoo
According to the Lansing State Journal, Little Girl the snow leopard built quite a legacy at Potter Park Zoo.
At age 20, she was the oldest of her species living at zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
And she was so well trained that zoo keepers were able to examine her and give her injections without using anesthesia.
She would put her paws on a training wall so you could look on her underside to make sure there were no issues. It was all voluntary behavior she completed for food rewards.
Little Girl, who was born at the zoo and became one of its most popular residents, was euthanized on Friday. She had been suffering from chronic kidney disease and progressive arthritis.
We will all miss Little Girl, Lansing's snow leopard. She gave all of us so much enjoyment just to be able to see her at Potter Park Zoo.
