The city of Jackson is teaming up with Consumers Energy, local law enforcement and various community partners for an initiative aimed at building safer neighborhoods.

According to WILX News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, volunteers will be going door to door in Jackson neighborhoods to hand out free lightbulbs as part of Light Up the City program in Jackson.

The goal is to encourage people to make neighborhoods safer by encouraging them to turn on front porch lights in an effort to improve safety and reduce crime.

Lightbulbs will be distributed on various dates throughout the summer.  Volunteers will meet on each date at 5:30 p.m.   For dates and locations, please click on the above link.
