Lansing Mayor Wants Road Money and Free WiFi at Parks
Lansing Mayor Andy Schor is asking City Council to fund a host of projects next fiscal year.
Projects will include free Wi-Fi at local parks and renewable energy.
City council has until May 20 to approve or amend Schor's recommendation for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
The total $226.7 million budget represents a 2.9 percent bump over the previous fiscal year. The city's general fund would increase 3.9 percent to $139.5 million.
Schor wants to set aside $50,000 to bring free internet access to five city parks. He would also like to dedicate $2.6 million in city money next fiscal year to repair local streets. The Lansing State Journal has more.
