According to the Lansing State Journal, Livability.com has named Lansing to its 2018 list of Best affordable Places to Live.  The website gave the capital city the top spot on a list ranking small to midsize cities.

Lansing is the only Michigan community to make the 2018 list.  Livability.com looked at 2,000 cities across the U.S. and took into consideration affordability and livability.

For example:  How much average households spent on necessities, such as housing, transportation, food, and healthcare.  Also including entertainment, median income per household and more.

For Lansing, the website noted that rent averages $734, well below the national average; that unemployment is lower than the national average and the median home price is $89,190.

The site also noted that the Lansing area is home to Michigan State University, cultural activities, sports and other entertainment options.

Here are the Top Five 2018 best affordable places to live, according to Livability.com.

1.  Lansing Michigan

2.  Buffalo, New York

3.  Roanoke, Virginia

4.  Morgantown, west Virginia

5.  LaCrosse, Wisconsin
