The Abandoned Kent-Moore Factory, Jackson
The building at 1501 S. Jackson Street sits in half. It once was the home of a metal-part manufacturing business called Turnin' Point Incorporated..... but most Jacksonians are more familiar with the building when it once housed the Kent-Moore factory.
The structure was built in 1906 with additions being made over the years until it reached approximately 65,000 square feet.
According to MLive, while located on S. Jackson Street, the Kent-Moore Tool Group “manufactured specialized automotive tools.....designed to meet or exceed Original Equipment specifications and are used by automotive mechanics and technicians.”

In the very early 1980s, Kent-Moore moved out and set up home on Micor Drive. The old building sat vacant for approximately eleven years until 1993, when Turnin' Point took over the building.
Turnin’ Point hung in until 2008 when they finally shut down. Then, on November 23, 2009, fire destroyed the building, leaving the rear manufacturing section – but the front portion was toast.
Without speculating or causing any unnecessary rumors, the origin of the fire was undetermined. Scroll down to see some current images of the factory...
