1895: Brought to San Francisco
1910: Bought from a museum by a Kalamazoo businessman, who kept the mummy in his house
1928: Donated to the Kalamazoo Museum

So who was this mummy and what's the big deal about it?
Sometime in the 20s or 30, the mummy was x-rayed, which revealed the mummy was an adult female. Another x-ray in 1948, a CT scan in 1988, and other probes and tests were made.
What they discovered was the woman passed away sometime between the years 360-290 B.C., making her approximately 2360 years old. Her arms were crossed over the chest, and scarab jewels were found on her arms and legs. They determined that her brain had been extracted through her nose during the mummification process.
Her teeth were in deplorable condition, leading scientists to believe the teeth had been cut out, filed down, or just plain deteriorated. Others had exposed nerves, which obviously cause excruciating pain when she ate.
Thanks to images showing faint signs of royalty, he must have been a very well-to-do lady. Her name had been scraped of the sarcophagus. So who is she? Is she indeed a princess as many think? That rumor could have been started by one of the early owners, hoping to get a higher price for a sale.
This is the “Mystery of the Mummy” which its being called – on display at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum.
