According to the Lansing State Journal, Juneteenth is the oldest African American Holiday in America.

This is the beginning point of African American freedom from the bondage of slavery.  It also represents the freedom for all people because no one is free until all are free.

Juneteenth celebration begins this afternoon at St. Joseph Park.  It's the 26th Lansing Juneteenth Festival starting at 3 p.m.  There will be vendors, family activities, a baseball game honoring the historic Negro League and more.

On Saturday, June 15, the 2019 African American Parade will take place at Letts Community Center.

Join in on the community fun by watching marchers, dancers, bands and more.  The parade will begin at 10 a.m. from Letts Community Center and will end at St. Joseph Park.  Family friendly activities will range from live music to educational exhibits.
