As you know already, John Engler, who had resisted pressure to step down over previous remarks, announced his plans in an 11 page letter to Dianne Byrum, chairwoman of Michigan State's Board of trustees.

The Board of Trustees held a meeting to accept his resignation effective immediately.  At that meeting they also appointed a new interim president for MSU.

According to WILX-News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, John Engler has been added to the list of people that the Attorney General's office wants to interview for the ongoing MSU investigation.

His resignation, which he said he was making at the trustees request, is effective Jan. 23.
