Bundle Up! Michigan Set to Plunge Into a Deep Freeze
Winter may have taken its sweet time to get here this year, but it appears Michigan is poised to experience an extended period of sub-freezing temperatures the latter half of January.
How Cold Is It Going to Get?
Needless to say, forecasting exact temperatures for any given area more than a couple days ahead of time is a tricky proposition. However, meteorologists and others who study the weather are able to identify trends in advance - and all the signs are pointing to several days in a row where Michigan doesn't climb above freezing, beginning this weekend.

The Weather Channel predicts 10+ days of similar frigid temperatures for several other cities around Michigan, including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint, Kalamazoo, and others.
What Are Other Forecasters Saying?
AccuWeather's forecast for the same time period also projects more than a week of high temperatures in the teens and 20s, with overnight lows in the single digits to teens.
The National Weather Service doesn't publish forecasts as far in advance, however, it does predict temperatures well below freezing as we work our way into next week.
WILX News 10 First Alert Chief Meteorologist Darrin Rockcole concurs, expecting "colder air to return next week with high temperatures in the teens".
