Have you ever hear of the creepy "Hatchet Man Road" in Michigan? This is one of those urban legends that you may or may not have heard about.

I had actually never heard of this scary story. But to be fair, Michigan has its fair share of urban legends. There's a corn monster in Winn, Michigan, there's a moth man, a dog man, and more. Including, this one about a guy with a hatchet that haunts an actual road in the Mitten State.

Michigan Urban Legends

If you're a brave soul and actually like getting scared, this might be a 'must visit' place for you this spooky season.

According to the legends, the 'Hatchet Man' story begins back in the 1980's, when a man "built a fallout shelter beneath his home for his family. Paranoia growing greater, he took his family down there to live. At some point, he lost it and killed his entire family with a hatchet and thus the road got its nickname: Hatchet Man Road."

Where is "Hatchet Man Road" in Michigan?

This haunted stretch of road is a swath of 28th Avenue between M-40, which is just south of Gobles, and 9th street near Kalamazoo, Michigan. There's a particular part that crosses over Campbell Creek that is supposed to be where these alleged hauntings take place.

Some locals who've crossed the bridge at night have reported seeing the faces of small children in the trees, an apparition of woman crossing the road, or even experienced their call stalling out.
