Millions Across Michigan Outraged, Disheartened after Local TV Station Goes Dark During Lions Playoff Game

The buildup to the Lions hosting a Divisional Round playoff game for the first time ever at Ford Field has been a grit-it-out affair between the home team and the Tampa Bay Bucs through the first half.

For many Lions fans across West Michigan, they were treated to dark screens on their TV after local affiliates lost the feed of the game.

Many took to social media to community groups and in their own feeds to ask, basically, "is it just me?"

It wasn't.

The feed went dark on local NBC TV affiliates and affected the game no matter which provider - over-the-air, cable or satellite, was being used to watch the game.

The game was also streaming on Peacock - service there was unaffected.

WOOD-TV, the NBC affiliate in Grand Rapids quickly took to social media to address the outage.

The Lions game feed is experiencing an outage Sunday due to a problem with our region-wide hub.

The WOOD TV8 signal was lost during the game. WOOD engineers are working to get the signal back.

The problem originates at our hub in Indianapolis. Our nationwide hub is offline.

Meaning the feed from Detroit out was disrupted.

Some fans got creative to watch the game. Whether it was seeking out the NBC Sports app and loading thier provider information or even finding a Spanish language broadcast.
