Local authorities and experts have confirmed that these videos are entirely fabricated.

New Social Media Videos Claim People Are Being Attacked By Sharks In Lake Michigan

On October 11, 2024, reports surfaced regarding TikTok videos depicting a 70-foot shark purportedly attacking swimmers in Lake Michigan.

These clips have garnered a lot of attention, prompting people that viewed the video to share them under the pretense of revealing shocking footage of the alleged attacks.

In one of the videos claims are made that several people that were attacked by a shark we're currently patients at Corewell Health.

A spokesperson for Corewell Health, however, stated unequivocally that these videos are fake and lack any basis in reality.

The Reality of Sharks in Lake Michigan

While rumors of sharks in the Great Lakes are not new, they are largely unfounded.

The most commonly cited species is the bull shark, known for its ability to survive in freshwater.
