Check Your Fridge Right Now For These 19 Recalled Food Items In Michigan
Kroger, one of the largest supermarket chains in the United States, has recently issued a recall for 19 products due to potential Listeria contamination.
This recall is part of a broader, multistate vegetable recall affecting several major retailers, including Walmart and Aldi.
The recall was initiated after Weirs Farm Inc., an Ohio-based supplier, announced the withdrawal of produce from multiple grocery stores across more than a dozen states.
Initially focused on cucumbers, the recall has since expanded to include a variety of vegetables and herbs as a precautionary measure.
Among the recalled items at Kroger are various types of peppers, including Anaheim, habanero, and serrano peppers, as well as other produce such as cilantro, mustard greens, parsley, and tomatillos.
The affected products were distributed to stores in several states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
In addition to fresh produce, Kroger has also recalled several grab-and-go items that may contain contaminated ingredients.
These include products like pico de gallo, guacamole, and various diced pepper blends.
Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria responsible for the recall, can cause a serious and potentially fatal infection called listeriosis.
Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea, with more severe cases leading to headaches, stiff neck, confusion, and convulsions.
Pregnant women, newborns, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to severe infections.
