Honduran Cuisine

If you've not had Honduran food before, it's a fusion of multiple cuisines, including Mesoamerican, Spanish, Caribbean, and African. Coconut milk, bananas, limes, and mangoes are often used in Honduran cooking.

Common seasonings include cumin, curry, coriander, and oregano.

New Honduran Restaurant Opens in Wyoming, Mich.

The new Honduran restaurant, Yureika's Delicias Catrachas, is located 1500 44th ST SW in Wyoming.

Owners say they serve classic dishes with a modern twist.

While a menu is not available online, the owners have shared some of their dishes to social media.

Pollo Chuco is a Honduran-style fried chicken served on top of slices of fried green banana. It's topped with cabbage, (chimol) pico de gallo, house pickled onions, and smothered in house sauce.

Baleadas are handmade flour tortilla filled with refried beans, cream butter, and crumbled white cheese. You can add an egg, avocado, or meat like chicken or pork.

Catrachas are fried tortillas with refried beans and a topping of grated cheese.

You'll also find fried fish specials, a variety of soup, flautas, enchiladas, and more.

Yureika's Delicias Catrachas serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is available all day!

The new restaurant is open 8a.m. through 8p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Friday through Sunday 8a.m. to 10p.m. Yureika's is closed on Mondays.
