Do you remember the old TV sitcom called "Perfect Strangers"? One of the characters Balki (played by Bronson Pinchot) made a movie on Mackinac Island. (Which is a real island, unlike his fictional home island of Mypos.)

TV Sitcom: 'Perfect Strangers'

'Perfect Strangers' was a TV sitcom on the ABC network for eight years from 1986 to 1993. The show starred Mark Linn-Baker as Larry Appleton and Bronson Pinchot who played Larry's cousin Balki Bartokomous.

On the show, Balki was from Eastern Mediterranean Europe moved to America, and lived in a Chicago apartment with his distant cousin Larry who had just moved there from Wisconsin. Larry would teach Balki about American life. It was a comedy similar to previous shows like 'Laverne & Shirley' and 'Mork & Mindy'.

According to MighyMac.org - The Mackinac Bridge & Straits of Mackinac Facebook page, most who visit the island know of the movies "Somewhere in Time" and "This Time For Keeps" but most have never heard of the movie "Mr. Art Critic" which starred Balki (Bronson Pinchot). I have to admit, I had never heard of the movie either.

After watching the movie trailer for 'Mr. Art Critic' above, I can see how most people have never heard of it. While watching the trailer for the movie, you will see it was made on and around Mackinac Island so if you have been or seen pictures you will recognize the background. After watching the trailer you will understand why most people have never watched the film.

I did find the film Mr. Art Critic on YouTube in its entirety if you would like to watch it. I did look at Rotten Tomatoes to see the rating and you may want to take a look at it before sitting through the movie for an hour and a half.  If you love Mackinac Island, I say go for it because it may bring back some memories of the island from your adventures there.
