After 56 years since the plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper, the incident is going to be scrutinized and the case will be re-opened for further investigation.

Why? Holly fans have long spread rumors about what really happened. Officially, it was deemed a lack of experience on the part of the 21-year-old pilot. But was it?

One of the rumors state that a gun that was owned by Buddy was found at the crash site with two empty chambers...and that bullet holes were found. Did he fire the gun? If so, did he do it intentionally? Did the pilot make him angry? Did it go off by mistake? Was he trying to shoot some type of animal from his seat in the plane and it startled the pilot?

Fans find it difficult to believe it was just an ordinary plane crash...maybe it wasn't.

The request for a re-opening came from a pilot who has been investigating the crash on his own...now he wants the Nat'l Transportation Safety Board to re-open.
