Just about every kid is excited to get a break from school when summer rolls around.  According to WILX News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service reports that children are more likely to become food insecure during the summer months.

Locally, Ingham and Jackson Counties rank high in food insecurity with over 66,000 families affected.

Northwest Initiative is working with the Lansing YMCA to provide summer meals for kids.

The YMCA's summer lunch program brings in a fitness bus for about 20 minutes and that means they're going to do physical therapy and fitness activities with all the participants.

Then the lunch bus pulls up and right at the end of that period, children get to eat a good lunch.

The Healthy Living Mobile Kitchen Bus will make 12 stops weekdays starting June 10th.  Please click on the above link for more information.
