Who Haunts This Cafe? The Owner‘s Mother, That’s Who!
The Cadieux Cafe at 4300 Cadieux Road in Detroit. Has enough activity and food to keep you busy all day and/or night.
This Belgian-based cafe carries more than three dozen beers from Belgium alone, with almost a total of 100 beers from around the world. Food-wise, you can snarf the usual bar fare: burgers, fries, and sandwiches...but they also feature many Belgian specialty foods that you’ll be tempted by.
Live music, feather bowling, archery and more Belgian pastimes have been featured here since 1933; before that, it was known as a speakeasy during Prohibition. It has since been awarded the Michigan Heritage Award for “continuing family and community cultural traditions with excellence and authenticity”.

And it also has a ghost. The owner’s mom, to be exact.
Well, that’s the legend, anyway. The ghost’s name is Yvonne Devos; her apparition has been seen known to sit at a table or at the bar. Why? To be close to her family, I presume. The spirit of Yvonne’s husband Robert has also been seen, but wandering around the cafe basement.
Customers have been “freaked out” by the sight of a man's apparition walking through the front door. Both spirits are said to be responsible for objects that move around on their own.
