This has to be one of the most heart warming stories ever told.  A Grand Ledge man by the name of Jeff Penfield has been feeling a little blue lately. His wife of 27 years, Tanny, died from cancer six years ago.  He misses her, especially during the holidays.

This past Saturday, Jeff decided to go Christmas shopping by himself at the Grand Ledge Meijer store.  He had many gifts to purchase for his family, including a son, step daughter and three grandkids.

Jeff said he wasn't quite into the Christmas mood, and he always waits until the last minute to go Christmas shopping.

After shopping, his cart was loaded with Christmas gifts.  Toys, clothes and small appliances.  As he was getting ready to check out, the director of the Grand Ledge Meijer store walked up to Jeff Penfield and said, there would be no charge for his items.

At first Jeff thought the manager was joking.  Turns out he was one of the lucky shoppers at the 230 Meijer stores who were picked at random as part of the "Very Merry Meijer" effort Saturday.  To read the rest of the story, click here on the Lansing State Journal.
