Here’s a cemetery that may not have any paranormal activity, but it’s still pretty old and makes for an interesting road stop.

The name itself – Gore Cemetery – is enough to make one sit up and take notice. No, it’s not named after Al Gore or even Lesley Gore...this old graveyard has been around since the 1800s.

The cemetery is in Gore Township near Port Hope in the Michigan Thumb's Huron County. Currently inactive, the records indicate the first burial here took place in March 1867 for 28-year-old Matilda Weiss. The final burial of all 73 people occurred in 1972 for 84-year-old Mae Wagner.

Looking at the images, it seems many of the graves are surrounded by dirt instead of grass. No big mystery – the cemetery is about a mile away from Lake Huron, and it’s more than likely a mix of dirt and sand. It just makes some of the graves appear to have been freshly dug.....or in some minds, dug up.

So, no big story, no paranormal activity, no sordid tale of any kind – it's just one of Michigan’s historic graveyards that warrants a little attention once in a while. See the gallery below for a few images within the grounds...
