According to the Lansing State Journal, General Motors will transfer 200 Lansing Grand River Assembly employees to Flint next year.

The reason for the shift is increased market demand for full-size trucks.  Flint Assembly manufactures the GMC Sierra and the Chevy Silverado.  Lansing Grand River Assembly produces the Camaro, Cadillac ATS and Cadillac CTS.

Earlier this year, GM reported that sales for pickups were up 21 percent in the second quarter versus a year ago and up 12 percent in the first half of the year.

All transfers will be in accordance with the provisions of GM's national agreement with United Auto Workers.
