Get Lost in the Fort Maze, St. Ignace
Most Michiganders who travel across the Mackinac Bridge are familiar with Mystery Spot, just west of the city. It’s a tourist attraction that makes visitors appear to defy gravity with all sorts of placement situations, like standing, sitting, and leaning and not falling over.
The simplest explanation, according to Wiki: “The illusion experienced by visitors results from the oddly tilted environment as well as standing on a tilted floor. Inside the tilted room, misperceptions of the height and orientation of objects occur.”
But did you know there is another attraction within the property of Mystery Spot? It’s the Fort Maze, which seems to get overshadowed by the popularity and awe of Mystery Spot. If you dig going through all those corn mazes during the fall season, you’ll get a kick out of the Fort Maze. Wooden walls form a maze that humans attempt to successfully find the exit...and it isn’t as easy as you might think.

Also, it’s more clever than you think...the maze is engulfed by trees...this means you can’t cheat and get an aerial view on Google Maps to figure out how to find the exit ahead of time!
Located across the street from Mystery Spot, it makes a fun diversion while on your Michigan roadtrip! There is also a mini-golf course to enjoy while you’re there.
The address is 150 Martin Lake Rd, Saint Ignace. Now scroll down and see images in the photo gallery!
