It’s important to remember these fallen fun parks.
Why?
Uh, well.....why not?

Many of Michigan’s former fun parks meant so much to many people. Even if you aren’t familiar with many of these, there are plenty of others who are.

Another fun park that had fallen into history is the Formula K Fun Park in Mattawan, Van Buren County. Once located at 54358 N Main Street, this park operated for an impressive 40 years. That span of time is indeed impressive, as many fun parks don’t last half that long.

The owners also operated the neighboring Formula K Lawn and Snow Equipment; so, in order to shift their attention to that business, it was necessary to shut down the park. By 2015, the park had ceased their mini-golf course, go-kart track and paintball.

As they once said on their Facebook page, “After much thought and deliberation we have decided to no longer open the Fun Park. We would like to thank everyone for their support for the past 40 years.”

The park opened in 1975 and for a while was the only Amusement Park in the Kalamazoo area. They began building their own go-karts, and with focus on the karts, as well as grand prix cars, they became the largest manufacturer of concession go-karts worldwide.

In 2005 the Go-Kart manufacturing was in Paw Paw while the Fun Park continued in Mattawan, closing ten years later in 2015.
