The more I read so-called “eyewitness” accounts, the less I believe.

The historic Capitol Theatre located at 140 E. 2nd Street in Flint is a locally recognized haunted location. The usual ‘haunting’ experiences include the sighting of apparitions, unexplained groans and moans, strange noises that have no basis, disembodied footsteps, et cetera and so on.

When rock bands set up their equipment, it all goes dead for no reason. Various band members say they’ve heard eerie singing and apparitions in the balcony.

When haunted locations are listed on specified websites, it opens the door for anyone to enter and jot down their personal encounters. Some of these so-called “encounters” are so outlandish that even the most hardcore paranormal believer couldn’t possibly swallow these particular tales.

While I believe there is something beyond our knowledge that exists, there are those who revel in taking advantage of true believers by making up total BS.

Yes, there very well could be something paranormal going on at Flint’s old Capitol Theatre, but the following remarks found on a ‘haunted Michigan’ website could very well be made up:

One writer says he saw a strange man on stage and “he began moving his hips in a circle as if he was hula hooping with a very large hoop.....he then did a dead stop and let out the loudest shriek I have ever heard.....I said ‘isn't Winger supposed to be playing here?’. He replied ‘My son, we are all under the wings of the ancients. Get yourself a fine woman and a box of tissue paper cause youre gonna do a lot of cryin' while yer lovin'!’”  If the person relating this story was there for a concert, weren’t others there as well, who could attest to his story? Alas, there were not.

Another writer says:

"When we arrived, the theater was totally closed down.....We entered the premises and heard a weird moaning coming from the basement.....We witnessed a balding pasty male sitting in a meditation position on the dank floor. What I thought was tattoos all over his chest began to move. I realized he had several large centipedes crawling on his chest.....As I was running away, I heard the man yell "Next time maybe you'll grow as many leggies as the centipedes!" followed by a low and deep moan.”

Yawn.
The rest of that tale was too disturbing for me to relate here. But these are just 2 examples of narratives that are just too hard to fathom. It’s possible that the writers actually believe they witnessed these things, but if not, they are taking away from the true haunts that are happening.

Other than those two, there are legitimate paranormal occurrences happening at the Capitol that you will have to visit and check out for yourself...
