First Sober Bar in Michigan Opens in Lansing Next Week
Have you ever heard of a sober bar? I actually like the concept. I've been to just about every bar in the Lansing area over the last thirty years, and I can tell you this, they all serve alcohol!
According to the Lansing State Journal, Wing Heaven Sports Haven, the state's first sober bar, opens next week right here in Lansing.
The bar opens March 15 at 3812 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, with hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. (LSJ)
Co-owner Teresa Stokes said that Wing Heaven Sports Haven caters specifically to people who are in recovery or on probation or parole. According to the Lansing State Journal, anyone who cannot or does not want to be around any alcohol.
I look at it this way, you don't have to drink alcohol to have a good time. This is a great idea and this new place will have everything a sports bar needs to be successful. Everything from TVs, to pool tables, and even air hockey. (LSJ)
The Lansing State Journal tells us that Wing Heaven Sports Haven is carry out only for now. But customers are free to come in and watch sports on TV or play a game of pool while you're waiting for your food.
At Wing Heaven Sports Haven, the menu includes traditional and boneless wings, burgers, fried fish sandwiches, fish and shrimp, chicken strip and chicken gizzards. Sides will include french fries, macaroni wedges, fried pickles, bacon and cheddar wedges and fried okra. (Lansing State Journal)
Let's sum it up:
Great food.
Sports bar.
No booze.
Instead of alcohol, the bar will serve drinks like Fizzy Pineapple Punch, Mermaid Lemonade and Bangin' Blueberry Lemonade. (LSJ)
