An increasingly abundant U.S. natural gas supply is expected to result in lower heating costs this winter, including a more than 15% cost reduction from the Lansing region's largest provider.

Consumers Energy, which serves about 140,000 natural gas customers in the tri-county area of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton, expects $100 or more in savings per household through March compared with last year.  Savings will fluctuate based on usage and weather conditions.

Michigan's other providers, including DTE Energy, Semco energy, Michigan Gas Utilities and contracted natural gas suppliers that use the larger utilities infrastructure are also expected to announce lower rates.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
