Detroit Lions Hire, and Let Go Offensive Coordinator
Today is known as Black Friday in the NFL, this is the day the ax will fall on Coach's and staff on many NFL teams. Some teams didn't even wait until today, in some cases the ax fell over the weekend. The Detroit Lions included.
The Lions have signed former Michigan State Quarterback Conner Cook to back up current QB Matthew Stafford. Cook, who is 25, was a three year starter at MSU, taking the Spartans to a 34-5 record and an appearance in the College Football Playoffs.
Coach Matt Patricia said "Matthew Stafford's our quarterback, and I think the world of the guy, he is an unbelievable competitor.
Another change before 'Black Monday' , was the firing of offensive coordinator, former Quarterbacks coach Jim Bob Cooter. Cooter had an expiring contract. so a firing wasn't necessary.
