The Lions have signed former Michigan State Quarterback Conner Cook to back up current QB Matthew Stafford. Cook, who is 25, was a three year starter at MSU, taking the Spartans to a 34-5 record and an appearance in the College Football Playoffs.
Coach Matt Patricia said "Matthew Stafford's our quarterback, and I think the world of the guy, he is an unbelievable competitor.
Another change before 'Black Monday' , was the firing of offensive coordinator, former Quarterbacks coach Jim Bob Cooter. Cooter had an expiring contract. so a firing wasn't necessary.
